I was wondering if anyone has ever grown beans like Jacob's cattle or Painted Lady to dry. How much do you get per plant approximately???

We were thinking about devoting one entire bed to 'dry' beans. Growing the usual Scarlet Runner and trying Purple Peacock pole beans this year.

I only grow purple hull pea's and green beans. My best guess would depend on plant type, but I have a 5x4 raised bed and I devoted it to contender's and I yielded about a 2 gallons size bags full.

I found this online...3 to 5 pounds snap beans, 4 to 6 pounds lima beans per 10-ft. row, but you're right.....it would depend on the variety...weather the whole nine yards.

This year we are companion planting the purple hull pea's and green beans with the corn, so we will be getting a larger yield.

I envy you your deer free garden. I've got some Little Marvel peas and I think I'm going to grow them with some Royal Burgundy bush beans.....can't get enough beans. I checked about planting some miniature corn as well, but the plants grow about as large as regular corn.
